The Driftwood Shrine: Discovering Zen in American Poetry is the title of a book project I’ve been working on for a long time.  The book is a collection of Dharma talks given mostly at the Great Wave Zen Center on the shore of Lake Michigan, and it is, at heart, a teaching book dedicated to my students.  But The Driftwood Shrine serves another purpose too: making the long-lived link between American poetry and the Buddha-Dharma conspicuous.
