Cheryl had had enough. Winter was coming and she had just lost her food. The Apocalypse had turned the world into a nuclear wasteland and she was one of the few survivors. At times, she wished she wasn’t. A group of survivors had held her at gunpoint and had taken all of her supplies. She had a single chance to survive. One of the survivors mentioned an oasis that they tried travelling to but were turned away. The last of her energy was being spent trying to reach that oasis. She saw a tree on the horizon but it was over a mile away. She whispered, “Just a little bit farther. I can make it.” She knew she was lucky but it didn’t help. She had decided that as soon as she recovered, she would hunt the survivors down and punish them for taking her supplies. She reached the gates to the oasis and fell on the ground, exhausted. As her vision began to turn black, she saw the gates open and a butterfly landed on a flower in front of her, as if saying she would be okay. She smiled and closed her eyes as a group of men picked her up and took her inside the compound.
